The Last of Us is a competent post-apocalyptic zombie game about a troubled, violent man making troubled, violent decisions. It may never quite manage to successfully integrate its gameplay systems into the story, which leans too heavily on the clichés of the genre, but still offers a carefully built nihilist narrative and a couple of memorable main characters.

Despite being marketed as an expansion for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, The Lost Legacy doesn’t settle for being more of the same, pushing the series in a great direction by putting the focus more on exploration and puzzle-solving than on shootouts, without forgetting to present truly awe-inspiring vistas to the player.

“It’s not my first lost city,” protagonist Nathan Drake says to his brother at a certain point in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. This is a technically gorgeous, but ultimately safe sequel, bringing familiar set pieces, locales, and characters: it’s a game that tries very hard to marvel the player with its visuals, but, just like Nathan, the player will nonetheless still feel like they have seen it all before.
