The sixth installment of the Alien franchise and Prometheus’ direct sequel, Alien: Covenant aims to revisit the concept behind the iconic monster by contextualizing it around the discussions sparked by its predecessor. Guardians of the Galaxy is an unpretentious action film that chooses to put its focus on the interaction between its characters. With its eccentric cast of heroes, the movie delivers a simple and well-known story that is nevertheless skillfully developed by director and co-writer James Gunn.

Exodus: Gods and Kings is a movie that manages to extract most of its dramatic force from the relationship between its protagonist and God. However, by not caring about virtually any other character, Ridley Scott sabotages the potential of the story.

The two previous Pirates of the Caribbean movies were overflowed with creativity, never afraid to go overboard with the absurd. They were nowhere near perfect; on the contrary, they were flawed in many respects – the second was too long and the third too pretentious – and yet they all managed to entertain. On Stranger Tides, however, is a tiresome and nonsensical movie that doesn’t even feel to be the work of the same screenwriters.
